IPR Manager

We, at Offshore Monitoring Ltd. (OSM), are looking for an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to monitor and manage the trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets of the company. We are looking for someone passionate who can work well in a global and diverse team. This position will report to Head of Business Development and Projects.

Founded in 2007, Cyprus-based OSM has international partners and a global team. We are a part of a consortium of companies with a total of 40 employees. We specialize in maritime technologies and scientific research. We work with emerging technologies with an aim to transfer them to the maritime sector and convert them into practical platforms for the shipping industry. We develop monitoring systems and sensor solutions for maritime segments using innovative approaches and unconventional techniques. OSM has also participated in 15+ large maritime R&D projects privately and co-funded by Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe for the European Commission funding clusters. Responsibilities

  • Managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio by identifying new opportunities for expansion and renewal of existing uses of intellectual property.
  • The company is managing 9 granted patents in Europe, America and Asia.
  • Obtaining trademarks and patents for new products or services offered by the company
  • Start the commercialization of the patents together with the Business Development team.
  • Reviewing existing patents in order to determine if they should be renewed or if new ones should be applied for
  • Monitoring the status of pending patent applications with the relevant patent and Trademark authorities
  • Reviewing existing trademarks in order to determine if they should be renewed or if new ones should be applied for
  • Negotiating with attorneys on behalf of the company in cases where litigation is needed to resolve disputes
  • Drafting contracts with clients/partners/suppliers to establish terms for use of intellectual property, such as patents or trademarks
  • Communicating with outside counsel regarding intellectual property issues
  • Developing and implementing policies regarding intellectual property and responding to requests for assistance from other departments within the company
  • Attend meetings (virtually and in person) with other groups in the organization and possible clients, partners, stakeholders as required

 

About you:


Essential 

  • Must have deep understanding of sensor technologies, signal processing, and remote sensing
  • Ability to negotiate and multitask
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-cultural international team
  • Analytical thinking, strategic planning and ability to problem solve and develop solutions
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of operational shipping 
  • IP professional certifications/ licenses will be considered a plus
